Description

Wegovy is a weight loss medicine that can help to regulate your appetite and reduce cravings. It can be a very effective medicine to achieve sustained weight loss when used alongside a reduced calorie diet, increased physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. An injection you give yourself just once a week (subject to clinical suitability), itâÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂs quick and easy to use.

Wegovy can be prescribed for adults with a BMI over 30, or a BMI over 27 with weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease or sleep apnoea.

You should not use Wegovy if youâÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂre pregnant and should stop treatment at least two months before trying to get pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking Wegovy, stop using it immediately and talk to your GP or midwife.

Wegovy must be kept in the fridge (with a temperature between 2Â°C and 8Â°C) before first use. Once you start using the pen, you can keep it for 6 weeks either at room temperature (below 30Â°C) or in a fridge (with a temperature between 2Â°C and 8Â°C). Do not freeze Wegovy.

Prescribers must independently verify the patient’s BMI and must add the BMI in the directions section of the prescription.

If the BMI is ≥ 27 kg/m2 to < 30 kg/m2 then the prescriber must also include details of the patient’s weight-related comorbid condition(s) (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes mellitus).
